Kyle Busch Collides with John Hunter Nemechek on Final Lap at Texas; Chase Elliott Dominates
Kyle Busch wrecked John Hunter Nemechek on the final lap of Sunday's NASCAR race at Texas Motor Speedway. Video showed Busch's No. 8 car dooring Nemechek's No. 42 after contact on the backstretch, ending both drivers' strong runs.
Announcers Kevin Harvick and Clint Bowyer called it intentional. "I just don't know how you can watch that video and think this was an accident," the report noted. Both cars performed well all day, unusual for their teams, but finished damaged.
Busch turned 41 over the weekend. Earlier, he bumped Carson Hocevar on track and later quipped about not finishing in the top 10 for three years. Nemechek's girlfriend, Kennedy Mosley, Miss Kentucky, defended him after the race.
Chase Elliott won dominantly, his second victory in recent weeks. Fans cheered the Hendrick Motorsports driver's resurgence, unlike recent quiet performances from teammates like William Byron.
Ryan Preece vented frustration at Ty Gibbs over team radio. "End of rant," he said. "Yep, copy that. 10-4, we're gonna come down and getcha four tires here and start over."
Christopher Bell criticized NASCAR's Next Gen car package at superspeedways like Talladega and Daytona as a "suicide mission."
Spectator racing at the Colorado Nationals drew praise for its excitement.
