Jacob Fatu acknowledges Roman Reigns after Tribal Combat loss
Jacob Fatu walked to the ring to open Monday Night Raw after losing to world heavyweight champion Roman Reigns in Tribal Combat at Clash in Italy. The Turin crowd watched to see whether Fatu would take part in the Acknowledgement Ceremony.
Reigns stood with Jey and Jimmy Uso. He had beaten Fatu twice in a month and turned back his first major challenger since winning the title at WrestleMania 42 against CM Punk.
Fatu moved more slowly and with less confidence than in recent weeks. He took the microphone from Jey Uso.
"At Tribal Combat, I knew what I was getting myself into. I knew the consequences. I knew the repercussions. Hell, I knew what would happen if I walked out with that title last night," Fatu said. "And I knew what would happen if I lost. Hell, I’ve been taking Ls my whole life. It ain’t nothing new to me. Taking Ls my whole life brought me right here. Standing right in front of you, right now.
"Speaking of a loss, last night in Clash in Italy, in front of the whole world, including my children – my children seen their father be a man, take a loss and keep his word. And last night, I lost to my ‘Tribal Chief.’"
Fatu dropped to one knee and saluted Reigns. Reigns told Fatu he loved him. Jimmy Uso called the moment a warning shot to the rest of the roster. Each member of the Bloodline raised one finger.
WWE released the King and Queen of the Ring brackets after Clash in Italy. The first men’s match, a fatal four-way, took place on Raw. Intercontinental champion Penta, Oba Femi, Solo Sikoa and Carmelo Hayes competed for a semifinal spot.
Femi, coming off a loss to Brock Lesnar at the event, dominated the match. He hit the Fall from Grace on Sikoa and pinned him. After the match, Femi said he would win the King of the Ring and challenge Lesnar again.
In the women’s fatal four-way, Iyo Sky, Roxanne Perez, Giulia and Lash Legend fought for a semifinal berth. Sky hit the Over the Moonsault on Giulia to win after Giulia’s pin attempt on Legend was broken up.
Seth Rollins defeated Bron Breakker in the main event. Breakker’s stable, The Vision, entered the match short-handed after Logan Paul tore his triceps and Bronson Reed remained sidelined. Austin Theory interfered, but Montez Ford evened the sides. Breakker speared Paul Heyman through the barricade. Rollins used the title belt to block Breakker’s spear and pinned him for the win.
