Caitlin Clark attends Giants game in San Francisco ahead of Fever matchup

WNBA star Caitlin Clark drew attention in San Francisco on Wednesday before she even reached the court.

Clark used an off day to attend an MLB game at Oracle Park between the San Francisco Giants and the Arizona Diamondbacks. She sat with her boyfriend, former Iowa basketball player Connor McCaffery, in premium seats next to the Giants dugout.

Television cameras showed Clark wearing a silver-scripted Giants cap.

The appearance added to the attention around Thursday night's game at Chase Center, where Clark and the Indiana Fever will face the Golden State Valkyries.

Last Friday's meeting between the teams turned heated. Clark returned from a back injury to score 22 points and add nine assists in an Indiana win. After the game, Valkyries player Tiffany Hayes was recorded on a hot mic saying officials favored Clark.

Hayes later faced online criticism after engaging with social media posts that targeted Clark, including one in which she appeared to laugh at a suggestion of physical harm.

Some fans have called for league discipline, saying the WNBA has not acted when tensions involving Clark have risen.

The rematch is scheduled for Thursday night.
