Yankees' Jasson Dominguez Carted Off After Crashing Into Outfield Wall
New York Yankees outfielder Jasson Dominguez was carted off the field after crashing into the outfield wall fencing during Wednesday's game at Yankee Stadium.
In the first inning of the matchup against the Texas Rangers, Rangers leadoff hitter Brandon Nimmo hit the ball to left field off Yankees starter Paul Blackburn. Dominguez ran back to the wall and made a spectacular catch but collided hard with the fencing. The 23-year-old's hat and sunglasses flew off on impact.
Dominguez held onto the ball after the crash but lay facedown on the warning track. Yankees center fielder Trent Grisham approached and placed a hand on him until medical staff arrived.
He stayed down for several minutes as trainers attended to him. Dominguez was then helped onto a cart, where he appeared to cry once seated.
After his exit, Cody Bellinger moved from right field to left field, Amed Rosario shifted from third base to right field, and Ryan McMahon entered at third base off the bench.
The YES Network reported on its broadcast that Dominguez is being monitored for a concussion, is in concussion protocol, and is undergoing an MRI on his left shoulder.
Any long-term injury would hurt the Dominican Republic native. Last season marked Dominguez's first full year in the majors, where the switch-hitter batted .257 with 10 home runs, 47 RBI and 23 stolen bases.
He hit far better from the left side at .274 compared to .204 from the right.
Dominguez struggled in left field last season. His weak defense there and troubles against left-handed pitching led the Yankees to send him to Triple-A to start the 2026 season.
With Cody Bellinger, Trent Grisham and Aaron Judge in the outfield, Dominguez lacked regular playing time. He was called up after Giancarlo Stanton suffered a calf injury and went on the injured list.
The injury came in Dominguez's ninth game of the season.
