President Donald Trump dismissed the high ticket prices for the 2026 World Cup, saying he would not pay them to watch the United States men's national team.

The tournament will take place partly on U.S. soil for the first time in more than three decades. The get-in price for the U.S. opening-round game against Paraguay in Southern California on June 12 stands around $1,000. Tickets for the final at MetLife Stadium run about $6,000, according to New York mayoral candidate Mamdani.

Trump told the New York Post he had not known the prices were that steep. "I would certainly like to be there, but I wouldn’t pay it either, to be honest with you," he said.

The remarks came days after FIFA President Gianni Infantino defended the costs. "You cannot go to watch in the U.S. a college game, not even speaking about a top professional game of a certain level, for less than $300," Infantino said. "And this is the World Cup."

Several College Football Playoff games at neutral sites sold for less than $100, however, with the most expensive at $219, as OutKick's Dan Zaksheske reported Wednesday.

Soccer fans in the United States expressed frustration over the prices amid excitement for the tournament.
