Thunder beat Spurs 127-114 to move within one win of NBA Finals
The Oklahoma City Thunder are one win from a second straight NBA Finals appearance. They beat the San Antonio Spurs 127-114 in Game 5 of the Western Conference Finals on Tuesday night in Oklahoma City.
Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led the Thunder with 32 points and nine assists.
Stephon Castle scored 24 points and grabbed five rebounds to lead the Spurs. Victor Wembanyama finished with 20 points.
Wembanyama had scored 41 and 33 points in the Spurs' two earlier wins in the series. In Game 5 he shot 4 for 15 from the field and missed all five of his three-point attempts.
The Spurs trailed by 18 points early in the third quarter when Wembanyama spoke to his teammates during a timeout. San Antonio cut the deficit to eight later in the period but could not close the gap.
The New York Knicks will wait until at least Thursday to learn their Eastern Conference Finals opponent.
Before the game, San Antonio coach Mitch Johnson was asked about Knicks fans chanting for Wembanyama. He said he had been focused on the series in front of him.
