Brewers pitcher Abner Uribe suspended one game for crotch-chop gesture
Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Abner Uribe will miss one game after MLB suspended him for directing a crotch-chop gesture at the St. Louis Cardinals dugout.
Uribe made the gesture after striking out a batter to end an inning in a weekend game the Brewers led 6-0. Manager Pat Murphy did not approve of the celebration, and Uribe later apologized.
"First and foremost, everyone here knows me and knows who I am, and knows I have a bit of a history of being emotional out there," Uribe said. "I owe an apology to the Brewers, I owe an apology to my teammates, to my manager, all the bosses of the team. I understand that’s unacceptable to go out there and react in a way like that."
MLB also issued Uribe an undisclosed fine. He is appealing the suspension.
