Napoleon Solo wins Preakness Stakes at Laurel Park
Napoleon Solo won the 151st Preakness Stakes on Saturday, beating 13 other horses in the largest field for the race in 15 years.
The colt entered the race at 8-1 morning odds.
The second leg of the Triple Crown was run at Laurel Park in Maryland because Pimlico Race Course is closed for major renovations that are scheduled to finish next year.
The 1 3/16-mile race drew a full field. The last time 14 horses ran in the Preakness was in 2011, when Shackleford beat Kentucky Derby winner Animal Kingdom by half a length.
Kentucky Derby winner Golden Tempo did not enter the Preakness. Trainer Cherie DeVaux, the first woman to train a Derby winner, said she wanted to give the colt more time after its strong effort in Louisville.
This is a developing story.
