Napoleon Solo won the 2026 Preakness Stakes on Saturday at Laurel Park, the 151st running of the race.

The 8-1 shot rallied on the outside after Taj Mahal, the 1 horse, led until the final turn. Iron Honor, the 9 horse at 8-1, closed for second, and Chip Honcho finished third at 11-1. Ocelli, one of three horses that ran in both the Kentucky Derby and the Preakness, took fourth at 8-1.

A $1 exacta paid $53.60 and a $1 trifecta returned $597.10. A $1 superhighfive ticket paid $12,015.70, and a 20-cent Pick 6 ticket paid $33,842.34.

The Kentucky Derby winner did not run in the Preakness for the second straight year. Golden Tempo’s trainer, Cherie DeVaux, said the horse would skip the race. “I understand that fans of the sport or fans of the Triple Crown are disappointed, but the horse is not a machine,” she told Fox News Digital.

Only three horses from the Derby returned: Ocelli, Robusta and Incredibolt. Corona de Oro was scratched before the Derby, and Great White took the 13 post after a mishap at the Derby gate.

The Preakness was run about 24 hours after Hit Zero, the favorite in an earlier race at Laurel Park, collapsed and died after finishing last. The race was won by another horse trained by Brittany Russell.

Pimlico is closed for renovations, so the Preakness was held at Laurel Park, about 20 miles south, for the first time. The Belmont Stakes is scheduled for June 6 at Saratoga.
