Moose delayed a high school golf tournament Thursday night at Crosby Country Club in a remote part of North Dakota.

The animals appeared on hole 5 during the Divide County Invitational, hosted by the Divide County High School team. Dillon Loper, head coach of the Divide County High School team, described the incident in an email to OutKick.

"This occurred on hole 5 here at the Crosby Country Club," Loper wrote.

Golf in this area near the Canadian border demands resilience. The border lies one farm field north of the course. Loper noted that two-hour drives to tournaments are routine, with three- to 3½-hour trips also common.

Weather adds challenges, including wind, snow, cold and red flag fire warnings.

Crosby resident Grant Haugland explained rural golf course fixes in 2022. "The thing about these small rural areas is there is no one to call when there are issues, etc. at the golf course," Haugland told OutKick. "Bridge gets damaged in the wind at the course? Get 8-10 farmers, a couple Bobcats, some power tools and get it fixed. Out in these rural areas, everyone knows everyone, and you band together to help out wherever there is a need."

The Crosby team heads next to the super regionals for a three-hour drive to Bully Pulpit, a course carved from the North Dakota Badlands. USA Today ranks Bully Pulpit No. 3 among public courses, ahead of Pebble Beach, French Lick and The Cardinal in Plymouth, Michigan.

Elk and bison often visit Bully Pulpit.
