Knicks Tie NBA Playoff Records with 18 First-Half Threes in Rout of 76ers
The New York Knicks put on a shooting display from beyond the arc in the first half of Game 4 against the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday, tying NBA playoff records for three-pointers made in both the first quarter and first half.
New York built a 43-24 lead after one quarter by hitting 11 of 13 shots from three-point range at Xfinity Mobile Arena. Miles "Deuce" McBride started 4-for-4 from deep and helped the Knicks grab control early.
The Knicks kept firing in the second quarter. McBride added two more threes to finish 6-of-7 from distance for 20 points at halftime, the team high. Jalen Brunson went 4-of-8, Josh Hart made 3-of-5, Karl-Anthony Towns hit both of his attempts and reserve Landry Shamet sank 3-of-5 as New York drained 18 threes total to match the playoff first-half mark. The Knicks led 81-57 at the break.
Shamet, who shot well from three in New York's Game 3 win, had a chance to break the first-quarter record but missed just before the buzzer.
The 76ers struggled to respond. They went 4-for-15 from three and shot 51 percent overall on 21-of-41 attempts but committed six turnovers that led to 12 points for New York.
New York shot 62 percent from three in the half. Two quarters remain in the win-or-go-home game for Philadelphia, but the Knicks eye a sweep and a break before the Eastern Conference finals.
