Hayden Panettiere Reveals She's Dated Women and Prefers Them to Men

Hayden Panettiere revealed that she has dated women in the past and has been much more into women than men, even at a young age.

The 36-year-old actress shared these details in an interview with Us Weekly while promoting her memoir, set for release later this month. She said the idea of discussing her bedroom life emerged naturally during the two-year writing process.

"It took two years to write this book, and I did not know what I was going to feel comfortable touching on … and what stories were naturally going to come up, and the fact that that did come up, I was like, ‘Why not?’" Panettiere said.

Panettiere, who was engaged to former boxer Wladimir Klitschko and shares a child with him, did not want to appear as though she was jumping on the bandwagon of celebrities coming out as bisexual. Her most recent public relationship was with Brian Hickerson, which ended in 2020.

"I’ve chosen to be completely brutally honest about this, and that’s something about me that I was never able to share with the world, because it was just never the right time," she said.

She explained that she lacked the courage to fully commit emotionally to women out of fear of having to hide a potential relationship.

"I didn’t really have the courage to throw myself fully, emotionally into it, because then if I did fall in love, that wasn’t something that I wanted to ever have to hide," she added. "I didn’t feel confident enough, and I was too afraid to really let that part of me explore that part of me."
