Gordon Ramsay says dog video at London restaurant was overexaggerated
Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay responded to a viral TikTok video that showed a dog standing on a pee pad near diners at his Street Pizza restaurant in London.
The video drew criticism online, with viewers calling the scene unsanitary and questioning whether pets should be allowed inside restaurants.
Ramsay told TMZ the situation had been overexaggerated. He said CCTV footage showed the dog did not urinate or defecate.
He also clarified that dogs are only permitted on the restaurant's outdoor terrace.
Etiquette expert Diane Gottsman, founder of the Protocol School of Texas in San Antonio, said the issue depends on whether a restaurant is considered pet friendly. She said taking a pet outside is the best option when possible.
Gottsman added that some diners might appreciate the use of a pee pad to prevent an accident on the floor, but she said most restaurants, especially fine-dining spots, would not allow pets or pee pads indoors.
She said the responsibility lies with the dog owner, not the restaurant.
Some online commenters defended the restaurant and said the backlash was excessive. Others said the issue was about bringing pets into indoor dining spaces rather than the dog itself.
The video prompted wider discussion about hygiene standards and restaurant etiquette regarding pets in public spaces.
Fox News Digital reached out to Ramsay's representatives for additional comment.
