Cubs' Crow-Armstrong in profanity-laced clash with White Sox fan
Chicago Cubs center fielder Pete Crow-Armstrong traded profanity with a White Sox fan after failing to make a catch during a 9-8 loss.
The incident occurred near the outfield stands during the Cubs' loss to the Chicago White Sox on Sunday. Crow-Armstrong had just missed a difficult leaping catch at the wall.
A female fan wearing White Sox gear began heckling the 24-year-old outfielder. Crow-Armstrong was heard shouting profanity at the fan.
"Some lady decided to start talking s--t and I felt the need to say it back," Crow-Armstrong told reporters.
The confrontation is not the first time Crow-Armstrong has drawn attention for his comments. Earlier this season he criticized Los Angeles Dodgers fans, saying they attend games mainly to take pictures rather than watch the sport.
White Sox fans had the final word on Sunday as their team completed a comeback victory over the Cubs. Crow-Armstrong said South Side fans should expect the same treatment they give.
