Chargers Schedule Video Mocks Patriots Coach Vrabel's Romance Scandal with Reporter Russini
The Los Angeles Chargers continued their tradition of standout NFL schedule release videos Thursday evening. Only the New England Patriots, their fans, coach Mike Vrabel and former reporter Dianna Russini might feel let down.
The Chargers' video directly referenced the relationship between Vrabel and Russini. The full Halo-themed production runs 6:13 and merits a watch.
In Week 12, the Chargers host the Patriots at SoFi Stadium. The video depicts militiamen on ATVs charging into the playoffs when a message flashes: "NYPost sent you a message." The riders then wipe out.
The New York Post's Page Six first published photos in early April of Vrabel and Russini lounging poolside, in a hot tub and holding hands while embracing on the roof of a private bungalow in Sedona, Arizona. Additional photos from the Post and other outlets prompted Russini to resign from The Athletic and delete her social media accounts.
Vrabel fumbled through several press conferences, dodging questions or offering vague explanations without specifics. He skipped the final day of the NFL Draft to fly to Utah for counseling after tough family talks.
This marks the second time the Patriots drew mockery for their coach's ties to a reporter. The team faced online barbs after a Mother's Day fan salute.
The Chargers targeted every opponent. They jabbed the Ravens over a failed trade for Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby and the New York Jets for recording zero defensive interceptions in 2025.
The video also noted the Patriots' soft schedule last season with the line "Conquer the cupcakes."
The NFL does not review or approve team schedule release videos, leaving teams free to produce such content.
