iPhone owners could receive up to $95 under a proposed $250 million settlement that resolves claims Apple misled customers about Siri's artificial intelligence features, according to a recent court filing.

The class action lawsuit, filed in federal court in the Northern District of California on behalf of U.S. consumers, claims Apple deceived customers by marketing "Enhanced Siri features" that did not exist yet. The advertising prompted purchases of iPhones, the suit alleges.

The plaintiffs seek a $250 million settlement payment. If a judge approves it, the deal could rank among Apple's largest settlements.

"Apple has reached a settlement to resolve claims related to the availability of two additional features," an Apple spokesperson said in an email to CBS News. "We resolved this matter to stay focused on doing what we do best, delivering the most innovative products and services to our users."

The settlement covers people who purchased an iPhone 16 model, the iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 15 Pro Max between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025. Approximately 37 million iPhone owners qualify, the court filing states.

Customers will receive notice by email or mail if they can file a claim. An online social media campaign will also direct them to the settlement website and eligibility details, per the filing.

Customers will get $25 for each eligible device. That payment could decrease or rise to $95 per device based on claim volume and other factors, the court filing says.

Details on filing claims have not been released. Clarkson Law Firm, which filed the original suit against Apple, posted on its website that a settlement website with more information will launch in a few weeks.

The website will provide all necessary details about the settlement, along with a phone number for questions, according to the court filing.
