Sabres Star Tage Thompson Explains Team Slogan 'Everybody Ropes, Everybody Rides'
The Buffalo Sabres have reached the Stanley Cup Playoffs for the first time since 2011. They won their first playoff series since 2007 by defeating the Boston Bruins in the first round.
The team has relied on one slogan all season: 'Everybody Ropes, Everybody Rides.'
TNT hockey reporter Jackie Redmond posted a photo of the towels fans will get for Game 2 against the Montreal Canadiens. The towels feature the slogan.
One fan figured the front office had invented it, as many teams do during playoffs. Redmond set the record straight. She said it has served as the Sabres' rallying cry all year. She also shared an explanation from Sabres star and Team USA gold medalist Tage Thompson.
"It means no job is too big or too small for anybody," Thompson said, according to Redmond. "That when everyone is willing to do the little things that aren't always flashy — it shows the room that you care about winning and doing whatever it takes."
The approach appears effective so far.
The Sabres surprised many by making the playoffs and capturing the Atlantic Division title. Five teams from that division qualified for the postseason.
Now the question is how long they can sustain the momentum.
