Packers RB Josh Jacobs arrested on domestic violence charges

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs was arrested Tuesday in Wisconsin on domestic violence charges.

The incident occurred just after 8:30 a.m. Saturday, when officers responded to a disturbance complaint involving Jacobs, according to a news release from the Hobart/Lawrence Police Department.

Police said Jacobs was booked into the Brown County Jail on charges of battery domestic abuse, criminal damage to property domestic abuse, disorderly conduct domestic abuse, strangulation and suffocation, and intimidation of a victim.

Hobart and Lawrence are adjacent towns in the Green Bay area. The investigation remains ongoing.

Attorneys for Jacobs told CBS News that he vehemently denies the allegations and that the matter is in the early stages of investigation with evidence that has not yet been made public. They asked for fairness and restraint while the judicial process continues.

The Packers said in a statement to CBS News that they are aware of the matter involving Josh Jacobs and will withhold further comment because it is an ongoing legal situation.

An NFL spokesperson told CBS News the league is aware of the report and has been in contact with the team.

The 28-year-old completed his seventh NFL season. A first-round draft pick out of Alabama by the Oakland Raiders in 2019, he spent his first five years with the Raiders before signing with the Packers as a free agent in the 2024 offseason.

Jacobs was a first-team All-Pro in 2022 when he led the league in rushing and has been selected to three Pro Bowls.
