Missouri LB JJ Bush Arrested on Felony Fleeing, Careless Driving Charges
Missouri freshman linebacker JJ Bush was arrested Monday in Columbia on charges of felony aggravated fleeing and careless driving.
The incident came one day after two Ole Miss football players faced separate DUI charges. According to the arresting officer's probable cause statement, Bush drove a 2024 Ford Mustang and exceeded the 40 mph speed limit.
The officer followed Bush briefly before activating his lights. Bush then accelerated to about 80 mph, the statement said. Police pursued for 24 seconds until Bush stopped at a traffic light amid backed-up traffic.
Bush told the officer, "That’s just how my car is," when asked about his speeding and high speed through traffic. He added, "I f---ed up. Driving crazy."
Officers took Bush to the Columbia Police Department and booked him on the charges.
Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz issued a statement to local reporters: "We are disappointed in JJ’s actions. He is indefinitely suspended from the team as the legal process plays out."
