Massive Fire Breaks Out at Tennessee Plastic Recycling Plant
A massive fire broke out Friday at a plastic recycling company in Henry County, Tennessee, forcing authorities to issue a shelter-in-place order and sending dozens of emergency responders to the scene.
Video footage captured a giant black plume of smoke rising from the Sigma Renew 360 facility, which belongs to Sigma Plastics Group. The blaze prompted the order for people in the immediate area, particularly those with respiratory problems, according to local outlet WTVF.
As of Saturday afternoon, officials had not released the cause of the fire. Crews continued to battle remaining flames at the site.
It remains unclear whether anyone was injured or killed in the incident. The Henry County Sheriff’s Office directed the shelter-in-place measure. Sigma Plastics Group did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
Henry County sits in northwestern Tennessee, roughly two hours west of Nashville.
