Golf Ball Hits Cameraman in Head Before Bouncing onto Green at Truist Championship
A wayward tee shot from Mackenzie Hughes struck a cameraman in the head before bouncing onto the green during Saturday's third round of the Truist Championship at Quail Hollow in Charlotte.
Hughes lined up on the par-3 13th hole and unleashed a long, straight drive that sailed into the gallery and hit the cameraman, identified as Gary, squarely in the head. The ball then settled for a decent lie that allowed Hughes to make par on the hole.
Gary walked away unharmed. Commentators noted his sturdy build helped him shrug off the impact.
Hughes apologized to Gary after the incident. The Canadian entered the round at 4-over par but carded a 3-over 73, finishing the day at 6-over and tied for 70th place.
