David Letterman and Stephen Colbert took to the roof of the Ed Sullivan Theater on Thursday's 'The Late Show,' hurling furniture and watermelons at a CBS logo painted on the street below.

Letterman joined Colbert about a week before the show's official end. Standing on the roof, Letterman said, "I thought this occasion would be sad, but this brings true joy to my heart. We are up here for the wanton destruction of CBS property."

The pair targeted the logo with furniture, watermelons and a cake reading "The Late Show 1993-2026."

As Letterman signed off, he told Colbert, "Thank you for everything you’ve done for our country."

Colbert asked if Letterman had final words for viewers. Letterman replied he had a message for CBS. "In the words of the great Ed Murrow, good night and good luck, motherf------!" he said.

CBS did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.

CBS announced in 2025 it would cancel 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert' at the end of its 2026 season. The final episode airs May 21, 2026.

Colbert has hosted comedians, prominent politicians and others to mark the end. Former President Obama sat down with him earlier this month and suggested Colbert could make a better president than President Donald Trump.

Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, Seth Meyers and John Oliver joined Colbert on set earlier this week. Kimmel questioned why Colbert had to defend late-night TV. "Why should you have to defend late-night? Why should that question even be asked?" Kimmel said. "Like Ryan Seacrest doesn’t get asked [about] 'Wheel of Fortune' or whatever the hell he’s hosting."
