Knicks Hold Edge Over Sixers in NBA Playoffs Second-Round Series, Predicted to Go at Least Six Games

The NBA Playoffs have advanced to the second round after compelling first-round series in both conferences. The Philadelphia 76ers and New York Knicks matchup stands out as one of the round's best. A major bet calls for the series to exceed 5.5 games at -130 odds.

The 76ers staged one of two 3-1 comebacks in the opening round. Joel Embiid's return shifted the series against the Boston Celtics. He appeared in four of seven games, with Philadelphia winning three. Embiid played four straight games on one day of rest each. In Game 7, he scored 34 points. Tyrese Maxey dominated the finish, adding eight of the final 10 points in a 99-98 victory with 3:30 left.

Embiid urged Sixers fans not to sell tickets to Knicks supporters ahead of the matchup. 'We need you,' he said.

The Knicks faced less resistance against the Atlanta Hawks but dropped two one-point decisions despite appearing superior. Their victories proved decisive. In Game 6, they demolished Atlanta by 51 points, leading 47-0 at halftime. New York won all four victories by at least 10 points.

Team depth marks a key improvement from last season, when the Knicks leaned heavily on Jalen Brunson. OG Anunoby averaged 21.5 points and topped scoring in three of six games. Karl-Anthony Towns led in assists twice and rebounds three times while excelling offensively.

Embiid's physical edge should prevail over Towns. Maxey and Brunson figure to cancel out. VJ Edgecombe outscores Josh Hart, but Hart excels in rebounding, defense and passing. Kelly Oubre Jr. matches Mikal Bridges as a shooter. Paul George and Anunoby present an even contest.

New York's bench provides the advantage. The Knicks take the series, but Philadelphia's road wins and confidence ensure a fight. Expect at least six games.
