Justin Thomas, Keegan Bradley dispute pace-of-play warning at PGA Championship
Pace of play drew extra attention on the second day of the PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club in Philadelphia. An official drove up to Justin Thomas and Keegan Bradley on the fourth hole and told the group they were on the clock.
Thomas, Bradley and Cameron Young had been warned to speed up. Thomas said afterward that the players disagreed with the decision, pointing to course conditions, strong wind and difficult pin placements. He said the group was behind but was not delaying the players behind them.
Thomas added that the group caught up on the next hole. He spoke at length with the official, while Bradley made a brief comment and appeared unhappy with the ruling.
The field of 156 players includes groups starting on the back nine. Only 25 players were under par at the time of reporting. The layout includes shared tees on holes 1 and 10, crossing fairways on 9 and 17, and several long par-3s, including a 457-yard par 4 on the fourth hole.
Chris Gotterup said the conditions would prevent any four-and-a-half-hour rounds.
