Jon Rahm shoots 78 at U.S. Open after string of bogeys
Jon Rahm opened the U.S. Open at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club with a 2-under round on Thursday.
On Friday the 2021 champion missed several short putts for birdie and par. On the ninth hole his birdie attempt slid just right, prompting Rahm to flip his club and shout an expletive.
He made the next putt for par but then bogeyed five straight holes on the back nine. With three more bogeys on the front nine, Rahm finished with a 78 and stood at 6-over for the tournament, missing the cut.
