The U.S. men's national team drew a record 24.9 million viewers for its 4-1 win over Paraguay on Friday.

Former goalkeeper Tim Howard told OutKick the result showed how dangerous the squad can be and said the team could have scored more.

"So many good things, so many contributions," Howard said. "It's really good to win a game and say, 'Gosh, I wish we almost had six.' That's a good place to be."

Howard cited Folarin Balogun's two goals, Christian Pulisic's attacking play and a solid defensive display. He said the substitutes also performed well.

Howard said the goalkeeper job is no longer in question. "I don't think there's any competition now," he said. "I think Matt Freese is the goalkeeper. Matt Freese is the U.S. No. 1, end of story, I think."

Howard expects a tougher test against Australia. He said the match will be physical and warned that the Australians could disrupt the U.S. rhythm if they press hard.

"From a footballing standpoint, if you're asking me right now, the U.S. team will play the Australians off the park," Howard said. "They just need to be able to match that physicality."

He predicted a U.S. win by multiple goals. "If the U.S. matches that physicality, then I think the rest will take care of itself," he said. "The U.S. scores three and wins. Maybe 3-1, maybe 3-0."

Howard also said fans will play a key role as the team prepares for the 2026 World Cup at home. He pointed to efforts such as Jim Beam's Home Field Advantage campaign to build support around the squad.

"They're going to use the home-field advantage. They're going to use that momentum as best they can," Howard said. "But it's up to us as fans to provide that."
