France's interior minister condemned violence that erupted in the Paris region following Paris Saint-Germain's UEFA Champions League semi-final victory over Bayern Munich late Wednesday night.

Fans flooded the streets to mark the Paris team's qualification for the May 30 final in Budapest. The celebrations turned violent in several spots.

Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez told French radio that authorities arrested 127 people across the broader Paris area, with 107 of those in the capital.

Eleven people suffered injuries, one of them serious, Nuñez said. Twenty-three police officers also received minor injuries.

Most gatherings stayed peaceful as crowds assembled across Paris after PSG's 1-1 draw in Munich.

Paris Mayor Emmanuel Grégoire took part in the festivities after viewing the match with hundreds of people, including many children, at his headquarters in the Hôtel de Ville.

In central Paris, however, rioters set dozens of trash bins and some cars on fire. Police fired tear gas to keep crowds from the Parc des Princes stadium.

"I condemn these excesses which are sadly becoming a common occurrence on nights when Paris Saint-Germain win," Nuñez told Europe 1 radio.

The disturbances fell short of the chaos after PSG's victory in last season's Champions League final against Inter Milan, when hundreds faced arrest. Two people died in related incidents in France.

More than 30 people suffered injuries in Wednesday's unrest. A mortar firework caused one serious injury, Nuñez added.

The interior minister said hundreds tried to attack police and loot businesses. He noted that police stopped an effort to block the Paris ringroad, the périphérique.

Photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand shared video of his outdoor exhibition in the Place de la Concorde. All panels lay overturned, and many pictures showed vandalism.

Authorities deployed more than 5,000 police in Paris before last season's final, also held in Munich. They converted PSG's Parc des Princes into a fan zone, though some clashes occurred nearby.

Emmanuel Grégoire said he aims for a major celebration at this year's final but recognizes the risks.

"We're going to work on it because obviously I want to do it safely, but I want to have a great fan zone for the final," he told French radio.
