Minnesota's Target Center became a political flashpoint Saturday night when a fan interrupted the Minnesota Lynx home opener against the Atlanta Dream by shouting anti-ICE obscenities.

The Lynx held a moment of silence before the public address announcer spoke to honor Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti, two residents killed during federal immigration operations in January. The announcer said, "Please join us in honoring Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti with a moment of silence." He added, "We continue to extend our love, support and heartfelt sympathies to Renee and Alex's families, friends and our community."

The silence lasted only seconds. A fan then yelled "f--k ICE" from the stands, drawing cheers across the arena.

The disruption recalled a Minnesota Timberwolves game earlier this year, where the NBA team tried a similar tribute for Renee Good.

Lynx coach Cheryl Reeve has posted "#ICEOUT" on social media. Former Lynx guard DiJonai Carrington called federal agents "masked criminals" on her platforms.

The controversy reached NBA leadership. Golden State Warriors coach Steve Kerr apologized for criticizing federal agencies over the January shootings. He had called the government's narrative "shameful" but later admitted misinterpreting facts.

"You’re right, I definitely misspoke, and I knew that ICE was arresting some criminals," Kerr told OutKick. "I immediately regretted it because I knew that to be the case. My point is that they’re also arresting people and detaining citizens and people who should not be being detained. The manner in which they’re doing it, as you see, is riling everybody up all over the country."

Kerr added, "Being in Minneapolis for those four days was incredibly emotional and powerful. It was a very difficult time for all of us... I misspoke, and I apologize for the misinformation. I hope everybody else out there who’s saying stuff that’s not true, please apologize, too. All right, let’s talk about basketball."

The anger in Minneapolis stems from two January incidents. On Jan. 7, ICE officer Jonathan Ross shot and killed Renee Good. Federal officials said Good used her vehicle to interfere with a lawful operation; local activists disputed that.

On Jan. 24, Border Patrol agents shot 37-year-old ICU nurse Alex Pretti 10 times. Video showed Pretti recording the agents on his phone before a physical altercation.

Violence after Pretti's death forced the postponement of a Timberwolves game against the Warriors for public safety.

The Lynx lost 91-90 to the Dream on Saturday, but the game took a backseat to ongoing anti-ICE sentiment in the WNBA and NBA.
