Dutton Ranch Yellowstone Spinoff Delivers Gritty Action with Reilly, Hauser, Harris and Bening

Taylor Sheridan's new Yellowstone spinoff Dutton Ranch has generated strong buzz among fans after its first two episodes dropped Friday on Paramount+.

The series picks up in the direct aftermath of Yellowstone. Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, played by Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser, head to South Texas to build a future away from the ghosts of their past. They soon face brutal new realities and a ruthless rival ranch determined to protect its empire. Blood runs deeper there, forgiveness comes rarely, and survival carries a steep price.

Annette Bening stars as the villain Beulah Jackson. Ed Harris plays Everett McKinney, a grizzled war veteran turned veterinarian who saves animals. Harris delivers a standout performance in the role. Early signs point to a positive relationship between him and Beth, and he may tap back into his combat skills as the story progresses.

Unlike the Yellowstone spinoff Marshals, which starred Luke Grimes and fell short of expectations, Dutton Ranch captures the gritty spirit of the original. Airing on Paramount+ helps preserve that edge. It feels less like a spinoff and more like a continuation, deeply tied to Yellowstone's roots.

The premiere includes a shocking death that sets the tone for the villains and promises major fallout ahead. The show premieres fully on May 15.
