Dana White Recalls Warriors Owner Trying to Unzip His Celtics Hoodie at Game
Dana White expressed disbelief over his treatment by the Golden State Warriors majority owner at a game while wearing Celtics gear.
The UFC CEO shared the story on "The Katie Miller Podcast" when asked to name the rudest celebrity he has encountered. After first mentioning P Diddy, White recalled an incident that stuck with him.
"The owner of the Warriors," White said. He described attending a game in San Francisco when the Celtics were in town. A Boston native, White wore a Celtics hoodie like any fan. "I got my Celtics hoodie on and we're sitting there and I can't remember his name, the owner of the Warriors. He's like the majority owner, him and his wife," White said.
Reports indicate White referred to billionaire venture capitalist Joe Lacob and his wife, Nicole Curran.
The couple sat a couple of seats away. The owner approached White. "He's like, 'Oh, I heard you were here or this and that.' He's like, 'Are you serious with that hoodie?' You know, I get it. Whatever. I think he's joking. So, he literally starts trying to unzip my hoodie," White recounted to Katie Miller.
"His wife's talking smack to me, and I'm thinking this is all in fun."
White said the owner's wife held up her hand full of championship rings while taunting him. He figured it was just rivalry between fans of opposing NBA teams.
At halftime, the mood shifted. White said high-profile agent Ari Emanuel, who attended the game with him, leaned in during a break in the green room and delivered bad news. White would not be allowed back to the courtside seats in his hoodie.
"I said, 'Well, tell him he can keep his stale f--kin' pretzels and his f--kin' s--tty beer. I'll sit here during halftime. I'm not taking my f--kin' Celtics hoodie off,'" White said. He then criticized P Diddy further.
The Golden State Warriors communications department did not immediately respond to a request from OutKick for comment on White's account or the organization's policies on opposing fan gear in VIP areas.
