Dan Dakich Picks Twins Over Brewers Through Five Innings
Baseball has delivered steady profits over the past couple of weeks, with few losing days. Yesterday's Astros bet fell short in a rough loss, but a wager on Yordan Alvarez evened it out. Alvarez also hit a home run, good for a +230 payout on that prop.
Today turns to the Brewers-Twins matchup.
The Milwaukee Brewers keep winning despite losing key players. They traded ace Freddy Peralta this year and still hold a winning record. Peralta joins a long list of departures as the team chases a World Series spot. At some point, though, postseason appearances alone might wear thin.
The Brewers sit at 24-17, 2.5 games behind the Cubs in the National League Central. Injuries plague them now, but trading their top starter has not hurt much. The staff posts a 3.35 ERA and 1.23 WHIP. Chad Patrick starts for Milwaukee tonight. He stands 2-2 with a 3.06 ERA and 1.36 WHIP this season. Road starts trouble him, though, with a 5.84 ERA fueled by four earned runs in each of his last two outings away. Twins hitters have gone 5-for-15 against him.
The Minnesota Twins have exceeded low expectations. They enter at 20-24 with a winning home mark of 12-11. The lineup hits .236 but has scored 211 runs. Pitchers carry a 4.49 ERA and 1.36 WHIP.
Joe Ryan takes the mound for Minnesota. He could hit the trade block if results stay middling. Many teams see him as a top rotation arm. Ryan is 2-3 with a 3.43 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. His home ERA sits at 2.60. He exited a start with injury two outings back but returned last week for six innings, one earned run and two hits. Brewers batters hit 14-for-69 lifetime against him.
Player props offer little appeal today except Andrew Vaughn staying hitless. Vaughn is 2-for-12 with four strikeouts versus Ryan. Patrick has held up this year but lacks Ryan's consistency. Take the Twins through five innings to dodge any bullpen issues.
