Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni have settled a lawsuit stemming from the filming of the 2024 movie It Ends With Us.

The agreement came two weeks before a trial where both actors were set to testify. The dispute started in 2024 when Lively sued Baldoni. She accused him of harassment, sexual misconduct and a smear campaign during production of their hit film.

Baldoni denied the claims and filed a countersuit. The legal fight exposed private communications, including texts and emails from Lively, Baldoni and their A-list friends.

Attorneys for both actors released a joint statement on Monday. It called the film "a source of pride to all of us who worked to bring it to life." The statement added, "Raising awareness, and making a meaningful impact in the lives of domestic violence survivors – and all survivors – is a goal that we stand behind."

It continued, "We acknowledge the process presented challenges and recognize concerns raised by Ms. Lively deserved to be heard. We remain firmly committed to workplaces free of improprieties and unproductive environments."

The statement closed by saying both actors "hope that this brings closure and allows all involved to move forward constructively and in peace."

The case grew out of interactions between Baldoni and Lively on the set of the film, an adaptation of Colleen Hoover's best-selling novel. Lively played the lead, Lily Bloom, a young woman who endured domestic abuse as a child and later faces it herself.

Lively's lawyers accused Baldoni and his studio, Wayfarer, of trying to damage her reputation. They alleged he used social media tactics and friendly journalists to spread certain stories.

She filed suit against Wayfarer Studios in December 2024. The complaint charged Baldoni with sexual harassment on set and retaliation for her complaints, along with other claims.

The settlement followed a judge's ruling about a month earlier. The judge dismissed 10 of Lively's 13 allegations, including harassment and defamation. Three claims remained: breach of contract, retaliation and aiding and abetting retaliation. A civil trial was set for May 18 in New York.

Baldoni soon filed defamation suits against Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds and their publicist. He also targeted the New York Times. He claimed they sought to destroy his career and reputation through the allegations.

Baldoni alleged Lively "stole the film" from him and Wayfarer by threatening not to promote it. He said she and others spread a false narrative that he harassed her and ran a smear campaign against her.
