Aaron Rai Wins PGA Championship at Aronimink
England's Aaron Rai emerged from a crowded pack to win the PGA Championship at Aronimink.
The victory gave the 31-year-old his first major title and made him the first Englishman to win the Wanamaker Trophy since Jim Barnes in 1919. Rai also became the first major champion known to wear two gloves while playing.
On a course that tested players throughout the week, Rai showed composure in the final round. He moved into the lead with steady play before sealing the win with a 70-foot putt on the 17th green, the second-longest putt of the tournament.
Rai finished with a five-under 65 and a nine-under total, three shots ahead of the field. He had never before placed in the top 10 at a major.
