US President Donald Trump plans to bring top business and technology executives on his trip to China this week.

Tim Cook of Apple, Elon Musk of Tesla and SpaceX, and Larry Fink of BlackRock will join the president on his official trip to Beijing, along with executives from Meta, Visa, JP Morgan, Boeing, Cargill and others.

A total of 17 US executives will accompany Trump, a White House official with knowledge of the plans told the BBC.

Trump will meet President Xi Jinping at a time of rising economic and technological tensions between the two countries.

The full list of executives in the official US delegation includes Musk, Cook and Fink.

These executives represent US business interests in social media, consumer hardware, computer chips and commercial manufacturing.

Trump's visit marks a key test of the fragile trade truce between the US and China. It follows a tit-for-tat trade war that led to tariffs topping 100% at times.

The tariffs paused in October 2025 after Trump's previous meeting with Xi in South Korea.

The US and Israel's war in Iran overshadows the upcoming talks and already delayed the Trump-Xi meeting.

Trump expects to press China, which depends on Iran for cheap oil, to help broker an agreement between Tehran and Washington to end the war.

China also seeks an end to the conflict. It has restricted oil supplies to the country, which has reduced the buying power of other nations that import Chinese goods.
