Trump Teaches Students Signature Dance on White House South Lawn

President Donald Trump taught students his signature "Trump dance" on the White House South Lawn on Monday.

The brief clip, posted by the official White House account on X, showed Trump acting as dance instructor. He demonstrated the familiar arm motions that mark his rallies as Village People's "YMCA" played.

"SPOTTED: PRESIDENT TRUMP TEACHING THE TRUMP DANCE ON THE SOUTH LAWN 🇺🇸," the White House posted on X.

Trump joined in for a few seconds, smiling broadly and gesturing through the moves. Students followed along before he returned to the event.

The dancing came after Trump signed a memorandum restoring the Presidential Fitness Test Award. That competitive school benchmark had been phased out during the Obama administration.

Students at the event included local children and families invited to the White House. Officials gave no further details.

Earlier, Trump welcomed student athletes and stressed physical fitness.

"We’re thrilled to have so many young athletes here at the White House," Trump said. "It is indeed a beautiful day to celebrate America’s athletic traditions and champions and physical fitness."

He joked about his routine, adding, "I work out so much, like about one minute a day max if I’m lucky."

Village People co-founder Victor Willis had endorsed Trump's use of the song. Willis said the president was "bringing so much joy to the American people with his use of ‘Y.M.C.A.’" after first opposing it.

Trump's memorandum follows an executive order reestablishing the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition. It fits a larger "Make America Healthy Again" effort.
