Trevor Bauer Strikes Out 10, Leads Atlantic League After Ducks Win
Trevor Bauer struck out 10 batters and walked one in the Long Island Ducks' 6-1 victory over the Lexington Legends on May 2. The former Cy Young Award winner and MLB All-Star threw 101 pitches, allowed six hits and one run before a sellout crowd at Fairfield Properties Ballpark.
Bauer's performance gives him the Atlantic League lead in strikeouts after three starts. His agent, Rachel Luba, noted on social media that he topped 98 mph with his fastball.
After the game, Bauer stopped for autographs and pictures, as he has after each start. In his previous outing on April 21, he threw a no-hitter against the Lancaster Stormers in a scheduled seven-inning game of a doubleheader. He faced one batter over the minimum, struck out seven, walked one and threw 84 pitches, missing a perfect game.
Bauer let out a roar after the final strikeout, the third no-hitter in Ducks history. Against the Legends, he did his sword celebration amid the double-digit strikeouts.
Bauer signed with the Ducks this season and said he looked forward to competing in the United States and seeing fans in his home country. He pitched in Japan in 2023 and 2025, posting a 2.59 ERA and 9.2 strikeouts per nine innings in 2023. His 2024 stint in Mexico brought a 2.48 ERA and 13.0 strikeouts per nine. Last year in Japan, his ERA rose to 4.41 with 8.2 strikeouts per nine.
An American League team scout at Bauer's April 21 start called him a guy who can help an MLB club. Bauer last pitched in the majors for the Los Angeles Dodgers before sexual assault allegations surfaced.
June marks five years since Bauer's final MLB appearance on June 28 as the reigning Cy Young winner. He pitched six innings of two-run ball, struck out eight and earned the win. Two days later, allegations hit, leading to a 324-game suspension, later reduced to 184 games for violating MLB's Joint Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Policy.
Bauer maintains his innocence. He settled with accuser Lindsey Hill without money changing hands in late 2023. He released texts in which Hill called him her next victim. Hill faces 16 years in prison on fraud charges for faking a pregnancy and seeking abortion money from Bauer. She later claimed MLB has more evidence of his misconduct.
Last June, Hill was ordered to pay Bauer more than $300,000 for breaching their settlement by discussing him on podcasts and in public, the Los Angeles Times reported.
Nearly two years ago, Bauer said he may have no other choice but to sue Major League Baseball if kept out. He has offered to play for the league minimum but has not signed with an MLB team.
Bauer recently called out MLB after Pete Rose and other deceased players were removed from the permanently ineligible list. On X, he asked, So, since Pete is welcome back now, does that go for everyone who has been blackballed? Or do you actually have to be guilty of something to qualify for that?
