Spurs' Wembanyama Ejected for Elbowing Reid in Chin During Game 4
Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs picked up a Flagrant 2 foul and ejection after striking Minnesota Timberwolves forward Naz Reid in the chin with a high elbow during Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals.
The incident happened with 8:39 left in the first half at the Target Center. Wembanyama swung his right elbow while trying to shield a rebound, sending Reid to the floor. Spurs teammate Dylan Harper stood nearby, stunned by the play.
Officials first called a common foul. As the Minnesota crowd reacted, they reviewed video and upgraded it to a Flagrant 2.
Wembanyama had scored four points with four rebounds in 12 minutes before leaving. The Spurs lost their main defensive presence in the road game. Reid made both free throws.
This was the first ejection of Wembanyama's professional career. The NBA will review the play for possible additional discipline.
