Spencer Pratt says he will leave Los Angeles if he loses mayoral race
Spencer Pratt said his time in Los Angeles could end if he loses his bid for mayor.
The 42-year-old reality star spoke from the site of his burned home in the Pacific Palisades during a conversation with Adam Carolla. He said he will only rebuild if he wins the race.
“I’m going to win the lawsuit against Gavin Newsom’s state park, and with that money, if I’m the mayor of Los Angeles, I will rebuild,” Pratt said.
“If Karen Bass gets re-elected or Nithya Raman gets elected, I will be done with trying to live in LA,” he added.
Pratt said he would take any money won from the lawsuit against the state park and the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power and move his family elsewhere.
“I’ll take that money from the Newsom state park and the LADWP, and I’ll go somewhere that my kids will not have to see naked zombies, and I can have the last American dream somewhere,” he said.
“But I will not rebuild if these people are in charge, because what would I be putting money into?”
Pratt and more than a dozen other property owners filed a lawsuit earlier this year against the city and the Department of Water and Power. The suit accuses the department of draining a reservoir as a cost-saving measure before the Palisades fire.
Pratt, a registered Republican, launched his nonpartisan campaign in January. He has focused on removing Mayor Karen Bass over what he called mishandling of the wildfires.
He said he decided to run after seeing no one held accountable for the damage.
“My goal was just for these people to go to jail,” Pratt said. “And then when they didn’t go to jail, and I saw that it was just business as usual, that’s when I decided the only way to stop these people is to take their power from them.”
Pratt said he has received support from a number of movie stars, directors and studio executives, though many have not gone public.
On April 21, he appeared on Carolla’s podcast, where the two discussed homelessness, crime and city leadership. Carolla endorsed Pratt and called city officials “Marxist, socialist f---ing r----ds who are tearing this city down.”
Pratt’s representatives did not respond to a request for comment.
