SNL Sketch Mocks FBI Director Kash Patel, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth After WHCA Dinner Shooting
Saturday Night Live kicked off its latest episode with a White House press briefing sketch that lampooned the administration's handling of a shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner.
Aziz Ansari played FBI Director Kash Patel, who called himself a "trailblazer" before mocking his own skills. "I’m the first Indian person to suck at their job," Ansari said as Patel. "We can be just as incapable and incompetent as the Whites."
Patel also joked about the FBI's pace on past investigations when reporters questioned his leadership. "For those of you saying I’m doing a bad job running the FBI, well, what if I told you this agency is only six weeks away from pinpointing the exact location of Osama bin Laden," Ansari said.
The character brought up an alleged manifesto linked to the dinner suspect while defending his ties to President Donald Trump. "Even the Correspondents Dinner shooter said, ‘Kill everyone but Mr. Patel,’" Ansari added. "You get a shout-out like that in a psycho’s manifesto, you must be doing something right."
Colin Jost portrayed Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who pivoted to military actions against Iran. "As you might have seen on our sick-a-- TikTok, we’ve been bombing stuff, doing sick air raids," Jost said as Hegseth. "This war has been a movie, specifically ‘The NeverEnding Story.’"
Pressed on the war's expense, Hegseth broke into song. "I guess I could put it in terms like a theater kid like you would understand, 525,000, 600 billion," Jost said. "In summary, war is awesome."
Ashley Padilla opened the sketch as White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt, who introduced Hegseth amid rising tensions. "That’s when you tell President Trump about your maternity and he says leave," Padilla said as Leavitt.
Patel batted down reporter questions on his office behavior, including email access. "I’ve always been able to log into my email, except for a brief 36-hour period of time when I forgot I had changed my password," Ansari said as Patel.
The episode aired after prosecutors accused Cole Tomas Allen of trying to force his way into the White House Correspondents’ Association dinner armed with multiple weapons. Federal authorities say the probe continues. Fox News Digital contacted the FBI for comment but received no immediate reply.
