The general election matchup for governor in Pennsylvania is set between Democratic Gov. Josh Shapiro and Republican state Treasurer Stacy Garrity.

Neither Shapiro nor Garrity faced opponents in Tuesday's primary and won their party nominations.

Shapiro, seen as a possible 2028 Democratic presidential candidate, has focused on his 2026 re-election bid. That race tops the ballot in a state with several competitive congressional contests that could determine whether Democrats regain control of the U.S. House.

The governor urged voters to turn out, posting on social media that he had voted and reminding them that their vote is their voice and their power.

Garrity posted on X that polls would stay open until 8 p.m. and called on voters to cast ballots.

Both candidates spent time on the campaign trail despite running unopposed. Garrity, who has President Donald Trump's support, traveled across the state to raise her profile and to help her running mate, Jason Ritchey, who faces a primary challenge for lieutenant governor.

Shapiro, already well known in the state, also campaigned to support congressional candidates he has endorsed in competitive Democratic primaries.
