Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson refused to grade her performance amid a growing homelessness and crime crisis in Washington state.

In a video clip posted Wednesday on X by Jonathan Choe, a senior journalism fellow at the Discovery Institute, Wilson was asked how she would grade her work so far as mayor. "We’re doing the very best that we can and there’s always room for improvement," she responded. "So, I’m not giving myself a number grade but we are always striving to do better."

Wilson drew sharp criticism on social media after video showed a 77-year-old man beaten by two individuals. The incident was captured by closed-circuit television cameras, which Wilson has criticized in the past for making the community feel unsafe and vulnerable.

The Washington State Standard reported in August that the total number of individuals counted as homeless rose 4.4% from 2024 and 25% overall from 2022. The year-over-year increase tracked the 4.07% rise from 2023 to 2024 but fell short of the 14.8% jump between 2022 and 2023.

Businesses are leaving Washington after the March passage of the millionaires tax, the state's first income tax, backed by progressives and socialists and opposed by conservatives.

At a recent event at Seattle University, Wilson, a self-described democratic socialist, laughed off suggestions that millionaires would leave the state. "I think the claims that millionaires are going to leave our state are, like, super overblown," she said. "And if — the ones that leave, like, bye."

Fox News Digital reached out to Wilson for comment.
