A three-car crash during Monday practice at Indianapolis Motor Speedway drew attention after involving several top drivers in this year's race, including 2016 Indy 500 winner Alexander Rossi.

Rossi lost control of his car in Turn 2 and hit the wall hard. The impact also collected Arrow McLaren's Pato O'Ward and Dale Coyne Racing's Romain Grosjean.

Rossi underwent outpatient procedures for minor injuries. On Tuesday he posted on X that he was headed to Cracker Barrel, signaling he felt well enough to joke about the crash.

Rossi had qualified second for the race and will start on the front row between pole sitter Alex Palou and Team Penske's David Malukas. He faces the possibility of using a backup car after the crash, though he will not receive a penalty for the incident.

The team has spent the month preparing the primary car, and switching to a backup could affect setup. In past years some teams have used road-course chassis after similar crashes.

Rossi still aims to win a second Indy 500. His front-row starting spot gives him a strong position despite the setback.
