PGA Championship Resale Tickets Fall Below Face Value at Aronimink
Resale tickets for the PGA Championship at Aronimink Golf Club outside Philadelphia have fallen below face value for all four rounds.
Prices on SeatGeek, the event's official ticketing provider, stood at $176 for Thursday's opening round, $170 for Friday, $223 for Saturday and $243 for Sunday's final round as of Wednesday afternoon, including all fees. Those figures beat face values of $199 for Thursday and $299 for weekend rounds before taxes and fees, according to a PGA of America spokesperson.
Saturday tickets came in about $75 under face value. The resale prices account for fees and taxes, making the savings even greater.
Tickets sold out in July. The Championship+ general admission grants access to the grounds plus food and non-alcoholic beverages at concessions. Holders can get one entrée, one snack and one drink per visit, with unlimited returns.
Axios reported breakfast options include doughnuts, fruit, yogurt bars and chicken biscuits. Lunch features hot dogs, chicken sandwiches, ham sandwiches, cheeseburgers, Italian sausages, plant-based burgers and Mediterranean salads with falafel.
Tournament organizers expect roughly 200,000 spectators. The caterer deployed 60 chefs, 170 managers, 800 food-service workers, 10 on-site kitchens and 600,000 square feet of food space. Fans should consume 124,000 burgers, 88,000 hot dogs and 372,000 bottles of water over the week.
The deal stands out for a major sold-out event. Golf rounds can last eight hours or more, unlike three-hour football or baseball games where concessions add extra costs.
Weather forecasts show no major issues beyond a possible brief shower Thursday. Demand may have been overestimated when tickets sold out last summer, or local interest might be limited with the World Cup set for June.
