Nicolas Cage stars as Ben Reilly in Prime Video's black-and-white Spider-Noir series

Prime Video's new series Spider-Noir stars Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly, a former superhero known as The Spider who now works as a private investigator in 1940s New York. The show was filmed in black and white and can be watched in either monochrome or colorized versions.

Reilly gave up his mask five years earlier after failing to save the woman he loved. He now scrapes by on detective work until he is hired to find a man named Addison. When Reilly locates him, Addison bursts into flames and is then shot dead by another investigator.

Reilly's suspicions grow when he meets Flint Marko, a bodyguard who can turn into sand, and Cat Hardy, a client who hires him to find Marko. The trail leads to gangster Silvermane, who controls the city's police and politicians and whose mansion was recently set on fire.

The series features supporting performances from Jack Huston as Flint Marko, Li Jun Li as Cat Hardy, Brendan Gleeson as Silvermane, Karen Rodriguez as secretary Janet, and Lamorne Morris as reporter Robbie Robertson. The script mixes noir atmosphere, fight scenes, and occasional banter while keeping the story moving at a steady pace.
