Knicks Sweep 76ers in Playoff Rout as Hart Mocks Philly Sports Scene
New York Knicks guard Josh Hart had the final say after his team swept the Philadelphia 76ers in the second round of the NBA Playoffs on Sunday night.
The Knicks beat the 76ers 144-114, with Miles McBride leading the way on 25 points. Jalen Brunson recorded six assists and four rebounds. Karl-Anthony Towns finished with 17 points, 10 assists and four rebounds.
Hart added 17 points and nine rebounds. The Villanova graduate took aim at Philadelphia's sports landscape after the game.
"I used to think Philly was a sports town, I don’t know if it is anymore," Hart said.
Philadelphia's teams have struggled lately. The Eagles won Super Bowl LIX over the Kansas City Chiefs. Other franchises have gone years without championships.
The Phillies last captured a World Series in 2008 and fired their manager after a sluggish start to the 2026 season. The Flyers claimed their most recent Stanley Cup in 1975 and got swept in the second round of the 2026 playoffs.
The 76ers last won an NBA title in 1983. They reached the Finals behind Allen Iverson in 2001 but have not advanced past the Eastern Conference semifinals since.
Knicks fans made the trip to Philadelphia for Games 3 and 4 to see their team knock out the 76ers.
Philadelphia fans can track the Phillies' season, though many eyes will turn to the Eagles' 2026 campaign starting in September.
