Jeffries Hits Back at Trump with 'Jeffries Derangement Syndrome'
House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., flipped a common attack phrase used against Democrats back at President Donald Trump over the weekend, dubbing it "Jeffries Derangement Syndrome."
Jeffries shared a screenshot on X of a Trump post that labeled him "a Low IQ individual" and called for his impeachment over remarks describing the Supreme Court as "illegitimate." He responded with the three words: "Jeffries Derangement Syndrome."
The original phrase "Trump Derangement Syndrome" gets frequent use by Trump supporters to describe intense opposition to the president no matter his actions.
The back-and-forth came after Trump's Friday Truth Social post. There, he wrote, "Low IQ Democrat Minority Leader, Hakeem Jeffries, is nothing but a THUG, and he is a danger to our Country!" The post showed a photo of the congressman holding a baseball bat.
On Saturday, Jeffries posted the screenshot of that message and added, "Do you need a hug? Be Best."
Jeffries had referred to an "illegitimate Supreme Court majority" at a Wednesday news conference.
