Japan Deploys Robotic Wolves Against Surge in Bear Attacks
Bear attacks across Japan have surged, causing 200 injuries and 13 fatalities since the start of 2025. The problem grew severe enough to require military deployment, according to Popular Science.
Authorities turned to Monster Wolf, a $4,000 robot equipped with sensors and sound effects to repel bears, deer and other animals. Each unit is custom-made, and producers struggle to keep pace with demand.
Bear encounters have reached record levels nationwide. Officials deployed the robots as a tool to address the threat.
