Hostage Freed After Eight-Hour Standoff with Armed Rideshare Suspect in Beverly Hills
A hostage walked free after an eight-hour standoff with an armed suspect barricaded in a pickup truck with a rideshare passenger in California over the weekend.
The episode started around 2:45 p.m. Sunday when a rideshare driver allegedly armed with a weapon led police on a chase through Beverly Hills, FOX 11 reported. The suspect faced charges for attempted murder of a peace officer and refused to pull over, sparking the brief pursuit.
Video from the scene captured Beverly Hills police and Los Angeles County sheriff's deputies encircling the gray pickup truck, with the suspect and passenger still inside.
Around 10:45 p.m., the passenger left the vehicle safely, ending the standoff, according to FOX 11. No arrests had occurred by that point.
Details on events leading to the chase, beyond the alleged attempted murder of a peace officer, were not available right away.
The Beverly Hills Police Department did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Fox News Digital.
