Guy Fieri Names Top Five Taco Spots Across US from California to Boston
As Americans gear up for Cinco de Mayo, Guy Fieri has named his five best taco spots in the country. The Diners, Drive-Ins & Dives host picks range from California classics to East Coast surprises.
Fieri has traveled the U.S. for years hunting standout local food. His roundup features five spots from his Food Network show.
They offer everything from West Coast fish tacos to bold flavors in unexpected cities.
Here are Fieri's top picks.
1. Haggo's Organic Taco in Encinitas, California
This spot north of San Diego draws fans with fresh, organic tacos. It uses 100% seed-oil-free, organic, grass-fed and grass-finished beef plus wild-caught fish.
Fieri praised the Cousetaux Taco as a rock star fish taco. It has wild-caught fish, usually halibut or mahi-mahi, topped with cabbage slaw, crema, salsa cruda, mango and cilantro.
2. Lone Star Taco Bar in Boston
Located in Allston near Boston University, this place proves Boston tacos pack heat.
Dude, that is smoking hot, Fieri said after the barbacoa taco.
Its flavors draw from open-air markets and taquerías in Austin, Dallas, Los Angeles, Oaxaca and Mexico City, the website says. Owners grew up in Texas and Southern California.
At Lone Star, our focus is on mezcal, tequila and Mexican street food, the site states. We utilize fresh ingredients prepared in a variety of ways to produce a complexity within simple fare.
3. Señor Sisig in San Francisco
This spot adds Filipino-American flair to tacos. The menu has sisig tacos with chopped, marinated meat Filipino-style, plus burritos, rice bowls, loaded nachos, fries and wings.
Locations sit in San Francisco and Oakland, with food trucks around the Bay Area.
The signature sour pork Sisig tacos have won over Los Angelinos, Filipino-fusion fans and Guy himself, who called these tacos salty, spicy goodness, the Food Network website states.
For more spice, try the Buffalo wings with savory adobo-chipotle sauce.
4. Garbo's Grill in Key West, Florida
This grill mixes Caribbean and Korean twists into tacos and burritos with fish, Korean BBQ beef and shrimp.
Fieri loved the Umamiburger with chipotle Gouda, calling his first taste a history-making moment in Triple D, per the Food Network site.
The sweet, spicy Korean BBQ tacos also rate high.
5. Mas Tacos Por Favor in Nashville, Tennessee
This no-frills spot in Music City serves Mexican street-style tacos.
Fieri praised the vegetarian quinoa and sweet potato taco and holiday tamales.
As for the pozole verde soup? He says the depth of the broth is ridiculous, according to the Food Network website.
