Giants' Cam Skattebo projects 2,000-yard season after 400-yard rookie year
New York Giants running back Cam Skattebo drew notice this week for a bold projection about his 2026 season.
Speaking with NFL.com's Kevin Patra, Skattebo said he had 400 yards on 100 carries as a rookie. He then predicted that 300 carries over a full 17-game schedule would produce more than 2,000 yards.
The math drew quick scrutiny. At his rookie average, 300 carries would yield roughly 1,200 yards, a strong total that would have ranked in the top 10 in 2025 but well short of the 2,000-yard mark.
Skattebo's rookie year ended early after a severe ankle injury. He had shown the physical, downhill running style that made him a fan favorite in New York.
The Giants drafted him for his on-field production, not his arithmetic. Skattebo's 2026 outlook will depend on how fully his ankle recovers.
